NEARLY FAMOUS is a popular Perth Duo and Trio which has performed throughout Western Australia since 1992. With a focus on entertainment and quality of musicianship, the band delivers unsurpassed service to clients and has acquired a solid reputation for its hard working and professional approach. The Band’s exceptional vocals are based around the superior individual singing of original members ALISON MITCHELL (singer/keyboard) and WIDO PEPPINCK (singer/guitarist) who are considered to be amongst Perth’s finest musicians. Alison and Wido provide an amazingly wide repertoire of songs ranging from soft ballads and dinner music to full on dance music from the 1950’s to current hit songs. The strong duo performance is enhanced by the addition of either ROWAN STOKES with world class guitar playing skills or JULIAN PEPPINCK with his energetic and dynamic on-stage personality when the band performs as a trio. Both the duo format and trio format provide exceptional vocals with tight harmony sounds which provide amazing versatility and has been an important factor in the band’s success. In addition to a Friday night residency at Mandurah’s premier Hotel, The Atrium Resort as a 1960’s Mersey Tribute band, Nearly Famous has in recent years, been primarily engaged in the Corporate entertainment area, around Perth and in interstate and international functions. Their professional and service orientated approach has resulted in a significant number of re-bookings from clients as well as numerous referrals. Trends in Corporate Client functions have inclined towards themes which require both uniforms and musical repertoires to complement the event. Nearly Famous have enthusiastically embraced client theme concepts with two of the more regular themes leading to the creation of separate “bands”, these being “Calypso Crew” (for Latin, beach party or reggae nights) and “The Twang Gang” (for modern and traditional country music). The band has also performed as “The Chain Gang” at Fremantle Prison, as a dedicated 1950’s Rock’n’Roll band, a Beatle Tribute Band, as well as the1960’s Mersey beat band at the Atrium Resort. During the last eighteen months, Nearly Famous has performed at Perth’s Burswood Casino Resort, on both the Casino Promotional Stage, and the Casino’s exclusive “Pearl Room”. It has also performed in the Conservatory at the Hyatt Hotel as well as for various Corporate entities such as Woodside, Perth Zoo, Jaguar Car Club, City of Swan, British Car Club, City of Stirling, Cenvet and the City of Belmont as well as at wedding functions as a live music alternative to DJ services. In December 2011, the band featured in concert as a support act for one of Australia’s pop icons, Normie Rowe. |
